Government set to invest in security sector

On Wednesday, chancellor George Osborne promised to almost double the government’s cyber security spending. 1.9 billion pounds will be invested in “industry and academia to fill the security skill gap”. The institution will be given the funding to employ 1,900 new intelligence personnel.

Prof Kamal Bechkam was at Osborne’s speech at GCHQ on Wednesday alongside Cheltenham MP Alex Chalk. Bechkoum is leading the way for a new cyber security course that will be taught at the university of Gloucestershire.The classes will take place at the new 1.5 million pound faculty and aim to “ Train and educate the right people with the right skills”.
