Wales international signs new Glos Rugby deal

Richard Hibbard has become the latest player to sign a new contract with Gloucester Rugby.

The 32 year old Wales international has made 10 appearances in all competitions so far this season, scoring a try against Wasps last week.

Hibbard has featured 57 times since joining the Cherry and Whites in 2014.

The experienced hooker also featured in the Lions’ 2013 tour of Australia, playing in all 3 matches.

Gloucester Rugby posted on their official Twitter to confirm the news:

Hibbard’s extension comes following new deals for several other Gloucester stars over the last week.

Fly half Billy Burns, number 8 Ben Morgan, scrum half Willi Heinz, and back Henry Purdy have all committed to the Kingsholm side.

Director of Rugby David Humphries spoke to the website on Morgan’s deal:

“We feel that the back row is an area of strength for us, and with the addition of Carl Fearns for next season, Ben will be a key part of that unit bringing real leadership skills to the group.”

The re-signing of 22 year old Burns in particular shows the belief in the potential of one of Gloucester’s future stars.

The Bath born man has made over 50 appearances since his debut in 2012, and told the club’s website he is in a good state of mind at present:

“I’ve been really happy with the way things have been going for me personally, and I’m confident that the club is moving in the right direction.”
