Charities benefit from the 5p charge

Shoppers are just getting used to the 5p bag charge after the fifth day.

Charities in Gloucestershire are already benefitting from the charge.

The Co-op store on Bath Road in Cheltenham are supporting local charities from the money raised.

The money raised is the retailers decision to where the money goes but it is expected to go to good causes.

There have been mixed feelings in Gloucestershire towards the new law.

Supermarket retailers are encouraging shoppers to buy bags for life.

Cameron, the team leader at the Co-op “we try and promote bags for life so they bring their bags back.”

In the next 10 years, the government hopes to raise 730m for such causes.
