John Lewis Cheltenham: social media reaction

The John Lewis opening has been one of the biggest events in Cheltenham this year. Everybody has been talking about it and now the day has come, what has been the reaction?

We spoke to customers leaving the store to see what they thought of Cheltenham’s newest addition who gave us mixed messages.

Andrea Beard seemed to like it, but didn’t seem ‘too fussed’:

“I’m not too fussed by the shop but I’ve popped down just to check it out – it’s a nice addition to the town isn’t it? I can’t imagine I’ll be in often but I suppose it’ll be useful for certain things like gifts.”

Karen Davies was a lot more excited after queuing since 9:00:

“I joined the queue this morning at 9am and I’m really glad I did, it’s absolutely beautiful inside. I can’t wait to do my Christmas shopping this year – I usually head down to the Bristol John Lewis so this will be ideal.”

Social media has had many reactions to the event. But these are some of the best.

Some people are not convinced, claiming that the store will still be there tomorrow.

The first person to arrive at the new John Lewis store was a man called Reg Lee. He was queuing outside from 7:30 this morning.

Has the opening been overrated? Some think that Cheltenham have been relying on John Lewis too much. Will the Cheltenham store fail compare to the Gloucester stores?

John Lewis has launched a unique idea to allow costumers to have the entire store to themselves. But there’s a catch…

Will October the 18th be one for the history books? Comedian Dom Joly seems to think so.
