Is Cheltenham the UK’s hidden gem for family life?

From the affluence of Montpellier to the trends of the Brewery Quarter, Cheltenham is brimming with attractions to suit all of the family, which could be why more and more people are starting families here.

Year on year, the amount of childbirths across Gloucestershire have grown, a figure which could be attributed to the large amount on offer to families across the county.

Cheltenham is home to 14 schools rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted. This is on top of the multitude of educational events children in Gloucestershire can attend during festival season, including the world-renowned science and literature festivals.

The educational assets that Cheltenham has to offer may be to credit for the influx of parents flocking to the spa town.

Kerry is a mum-of-one from Birmingham. She recently took over Cheltenham boutique Silks and the new business venture has inspired her to make the move from the Midlands to Gloucestershire.

“I love Cheltenham. I’d like my little girl to go to one of the schools here. It’s a better way of life. A nicer way of life.”

Kerry is one of many mums deciding to take advantage of Cheltenham’s family-centric way of life.

“Everyone around here’s been lovely. It’s a lot more sociable and there’s a lot more going on.”

Cheltenham racecourse’s regular meetings are always packed full of family events, a great opportunity for Cheltenham newbies like Kerry to meet likeminded mums and other families.
