MasterChef finalist opens pop-up Cheltenham restaurant

A new pop-up restaurant is opening in the heart of Cheltenham’s Regent Street.

After choosing Cheltenham as his location, ‘Koj’ is the creation of former Masterchef finalist Andrew Kojima, and is Kojima’s latest short-term food project after running a private dining service for the past few years. Andrew made it into the final three of MasterChef in 2012 before eventually losing out to Shelina Permalloo.

The restaurant is opening in the space that was formerly occupied by Café Regent. It will be open until Christmas and will be serving ‘interesting but casual Japanese food’.

At lunch time, diners can tuck into Poké bowls – a lunch-sized portion of rice that comes topped with fish, chicken or vegetables, accompanied by a unique sauce.

In the evenings, Koj will be serving Japanese beers, Sake and cocktails. They will also be serving a variety of grilled skewers, miso roasted aubergine, grilled sardines with ponzu and also Koj fried chicken with kimchee mayonnaise.

Opening times for the restaurant are noon – 2pm, Tuesday to Sunday for lunch and Wednesday to Saturday evenings 6 – 10pm.
