Lockdown diaries: Skincare products for problem skin

For an unfortunately large percentage of us, the current lockdown has been causing absolute chaos upon our skin. Gone are the days of spa facials, skin peels and LED treatments, we’re stuck at home without a dermatologist in sight.

However, not all hope is lost. We are extremely fortunate to be living in a world where multiple online stores exist, and within a few scrolls and clicks on the likes of Beauty Bay, Cult Beauty and Feel Unique, we have the opportunity to completely revamp our skincare cupboard.

Listed below are a few of my favourite skincare products for when my skin is really going through it. Those time of the month spots? Dry, flaky skin? Oily T-Zone? Rest assured, I’ve got you covered. Even better, they’re all at drugstore prices and part of your night-time skincare routine!

Lacura Refreshing Face Wash Gel:

With their 100% soap-free formula, this Aldi (Yes, ALDI!) face wash is perfect for when your skin is feeling extra sensitive but needs that second cleanse. (£0.85)

Garnier Pure Active Anti Blackhead Charcoal Mask Peel Off:

This product has completely transformed my skin. If I mention bumpy and enlarged nose pores does it ring an extremely piercing bell? Fear no more. Layer this mask onto your T-Zone, leave on for 20 minutes and allow the formula to unclog and clear your skin. (£7.99)

Nip and Fab Dragon’s Blood Fix Serum:

Ensure you have the most amazing self-care evening by enjoying the smoothing and plumping properties of this serum. Recommended by Kylie Jenner, this product allows your skin to look youthful and replenished for those days where it feels as if the life has been sucked out of you. (£19.95)

Revolution Skincare Skin Nourishing CBD Oil:

As someone whose skin type is profusely dry, this oil absolutely saves my face and is by far my favourite product. This renowned oil won’t chill you out per say, but will instead calm and soothe your dry patches to ensure an even complexion. Massage onto skin with either your fingers or cotton pad to revolutionise your face. (£9.99)

Garnier Skin Naturals UltraLift Night Cream:

I will be completely honest and admit I picked up this moisturiser as a mistake, but what a happy accident it turned out to be. Of course, at the ripe age of twenty one my skin isn’t desperate for a youthful, anti-wrinkle glow, but it doesn’t hurt to start early, right? With the perfect evening cream texture, this thick but light product will calm those problem areas and allow your face to feel irresistibly soft in the morning. (£10.20)
