A rapist forced a woman into a van and assaulted her in Gloucester

Gloucestershire police have started searching for a rapist who forced a woman into a van before assaulting her.

The attack happened after the victim found a Transit van in the driveway of Elmgrove Road, Gloucester, at around 10am yesterday.

The driver forced the women into the vehicle just before attacking her.

The victim escaped the van after the attack and notified the police.

The police have since released details of the attacker.

The man is described as white, aged in his 30s, of stocky build and is said to have a local accent. He has cropped light hair and wore dark jeans.

The van is described as pale in colour, possibly silver, with a sliding door and is believed to be a few years old.

Gloucestershire police have been conducting house to house enquiries and urging people to be vigilant.

Detective Inspector David Shore-Nye said: “This was an absolutely horrifying incident that has understandably left the victim completely distraught.

“She is now receiving support from our officers and other agencies while we carry out all possible enquiries, including CCTV, house to house and forensic investigations. But we also need the public to call us if they believe they have any relevant information, particularly about the vehicle described and any sightings in Hucclecote on Thursday morning”
