Gloucester Rugby Coach pays tribute to Anthony Foley

Johnny Bell has paid tribute to former Irish team mate Anthony Foley after he passed away on Sunday.

The pair were part of a touring Ireland schools side in New Zealand and were due to reunite for their 25th anniversary next year.

At the same age of 42, Bell has said that the sudden passing of Foley’s death has been very difficult for himself.

Bell spoke to Gloucestershire live and said; “Anthony was a man mountain. He was Munster Rugby. It has been said in the press throughout the past few days just what a person he was in Irish Rugby.

He was a born leader and I had the pleasure of coming through school’s level with him, under 20s and then, ultimately, played at senior level with him

He was fun and so charismatic and is such a sad, sad loss for everybody. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and everyone in Munster. It leaves a big hole”
