Gloucester City FC are set to return home

Plans have finally been agreed for GCFC to return to a rejuvenated Meadow Park for the start of the 2017/18 season.

The environmental agency have signed off on plans for the club to rebuild their stadium and give the team a home for the first time in nine years.

Meadow Park was all but destroyed in the severe flooding back in 2007 and the club were forced to play their home games at Whaddon Road, the home of Cheltenham Town.

The first phase of development would see a main stand with players’ facilities and a club shop being built, along with a terraced stand which would take Meadow Park’s capacity to 3,068.

However, one very important condition for permission to be granted was the widening of the adjacent Sudmeadow Road which was a real sticking point for the local council.

Phase 2 will see the stadium return to its original capacity of 4,500 with the repair of the rest of the spectator stands.
