Food Reader Awards 2018: Gloucestershire has some of the best in the West

The 2018 Food magazine readers award have shortlisted some of Gloucestershire’s best foody-venues into its finale.

After 10,000 votes in the first round of voting, the county’s nominations include best restaurant, best independent retailer, best cookery school and best farm shop.

Here’s who made the cut:

Best restaurant

– The White Spoon, Cheltenham

– Wild Garlic, Nailsworth

Best Indie retailer

– Talking Wines, Cirencester

– Fillet & Bone, Chipping Campden

Best Cookery school

– Foodworks Cookery School, Colesbourne

Best Farm Shop

– Daylesford, Moreton-in-Marsh

Simon Thomson, Owner and Director of Talking Wines in Cirencester, developed a love of wine during his travels when he was younger. He said it’s nice to be recognised for his hard work.

“We try to do a good job every single day for our customers and it’s feels good to be recognised for it. We are constantly working to improve our range and make the store the best it can be.

“A third party endorsement is always a nice thing. I don’t know what we’re doing to earn it but we’ll keep doing whatever it is that’s working.”

Voting closes at 12pm December 18 so make sure to back our local nominees.
