BUSINESS COVID ENTERTAINMENT FOOD & DRINK

Don’t miss out on a tipple just because you’re celebrating in lockdown!

Birthday? Anniversary? Much deserved session? Here’s some suggestions to make sure you have a ball without the disco ball.

Did somebody say cocktails? There’s nothing quite like the buzz of heading to town to pick up some high quality two for one cocktails. Especially if you’re wearing an unnecessarily loud 21st birthday badge. Unfortunately we can’t do that anymore, but guess what Two Fingers Drinks has got you covered.

Cotswolds based cocktail delivery and hospitality specialists

Pre-covid, Two Fingers was a luxury mobile bar company with high end cocktails and entertainment. However, like most small businesses, they have had to adapt to fit lockdown life. So now we can order professional standard cocktails to our doorstep, hand delivered by the front man himself, “with the country in crisis we’ve bottled a range of cocktails to ease the pain of social distancing, bar closures and a three month school holiday.”

Two Fingers is a one-man-band, Tim Evans (pictured above), started the company last May and has used his expert industry knowledge to create this exciting opportunity. “I’ve got all this amazing stock so I may as well sell it, you know, let others enjoy it and not just drink it all to myself!” The drinks arrive refrigerated and ready to go packaged specially by Tim. “I do it all myself including delivery, I like to be able to speak to the customers as I can’t talk to them over a bar anymore… a personal touch.”

For a booze-filled birthday party, Tim would recommend the ‘Pepo Piña’ a tropical gin based cocktail featuring passionfruit and pineapple.

If you’re looking for a classier evening, an anniversary perhaps Tim suggests the ‘Chai Tea At Sea’ a more refined drink using infused rum and delicate tea flavours.

If you want to get straight to business (boozing) the cocktail delivery is the one for you. Those of you who prefer a more hands on approach, don’t worry there’s plenty ways to get stuck in the cocktail shakery!

Zoom isn’t only good for a family pub quiz (or twelve) cocktail maestro’s up and down the country are using it to deliver masterclasses in the art of alcohol.

Mint Cocktails has been running for four years delivering mixological wisdom and entertainment. Similarly as with Two Fingers, once lockdown struck it was time to adapt the plan. Joe Handforth, Managing Director, decided to take his masterclasses online, “we had to make a decision to stay active and keep the business alive but also to give some excitement to the community and raise some spirits.”

Since the first lockdown Joe and his brilliant bartenders have been giving free lessons every Saturday featuring a new and exciting drink. Mostly using ingredients we can find stuffed at the back of our alcohol cupboards! This has now developed into personalised zoom classes and packages.

The company is based in West Yorkshire but Joe and the Mint team can cater for anywhere in the country. They will send all the ingrediants, equipment and garnishes to your door and meet you later on zoom to get to the fun part.

“We want people t get involved in lockdown, not just go get a crate of beer for your birthday, instead have a go at getting creative… you don’t need specialist equipment, if you’ve got a protein shaker or Tupperware or something you’re good to go.”

Of course, it’s not quite a zoom call without a half-drunk quiz, so after the first cocktail clients are treated to a booze based quiz.

If you fancy getting stuck in with some masterclasses, Mint cocktails allow you to choose your own drinks or stick to one of their packages. As we’re moving into winter, Joe would recommend a seasonal Whisky Old Fashioned. Or if you’re missing the sun, a mojito – “only if it’s made correctly!”

So if you’re sipping on your own handmade martini, or enjoying drinks made by the pros, there is no reason your lockdown celebrations can’t be just as fun as a night out on the town.
