Cheltenham reggae band to release much-anticipated debut single

Not only is frontman Kingsley Salmon on the verge of releasing King Solomon’s debut single, but he’s doing it through his new, local record label, Barleyfield Records. This new venture is still in the beginnings of forming, but Kingsley is excited at the prospect of the task ahead, “It’s early days, but it’s looking good so far and we can’t wait for the release of CEASEFIRE.

Kingsley discussed his inspiration for the upcoming single CEASEFIRE and shed light on the name, “CEASEFIRE offers the band’s unique fusion of hard-edge roots, dub and soul music combined with conscious lyrics that reflect on social and political events worldwide. We were directly inspired by the perpetual conflict in the Middle-East and this comes through in the lyrics.”

The single follows the release of the band’s EP, ‘In the Dragon’s Den’, in 2015, which proved an underground success, through airplay and online hits all over the world. Their distinctive roots reggae style is achieved through full drums and percussion, bass, two guitars, keys, three vocals and an impressive horn section. Each of these elements of King Solomon Band add identity to the delicate texture of well-written songs. CEASEFIRE was recorded between Resident Studio in London and Studio 340 in Cheltenham. For frontman, writer and producer, Kingsley Salmon this has been a labour of love and his meticulous attention to detail has resulted in a sound that echoes the sound-system reggae of the 1970s and 80s in a rugged yet refreshing style.

CEASEFIRE’s release will be followed by an album at the end of March supported by live performances across the UK. It will be available to download from iTunes, among other outlets, and there will also be a limited number of physical copies produced.
